What to consider for decor for the coming holidays?

Updated: Nov 9, 2023

I don't know if this happens to you but whenever I go to one of my favorite grocery stores, they welcome us with all these vast stands with the coming season stuff, and so ahead of time that it makes me feel I'm so behind with everything.

You probably know what store I'm talking about. It is this lovely place where you go for milk or eggs and you end up buying new pillows, towels, pretty baskets you got fond of, etc. You know the place, right? It's crazy! (But we love it!)

My point is, that I feel like summer is just ending, and suddenly I'm thinking about the new Christmas tree my husband and I want to get this year. Really? Am I not living the present? As you can imagine I'm the kind of person who loves to give the house the season feel.

So in my head, I'm already buying rust everything, pumpkin scent everywhere, etc. Yeah, I am that person! However, what has to be left behind, as I say to myself is stress. In the end, it doesn't matter that you didn't buy on Valentine's Day your decor for Halloween, do it on your own time. It's supposed to be enjoyable, and more importantly, live this season at this moment. Be present.

So this is my plan and I hope it can be a guide for you. In this blog more than a professional in interiors, my goal is to share what I love from the woman, wife, mom, and homebody person I am.

People tell me: Oh my, your house must be gorgeous!!! And it is! (According to me!) But... imagine how hard it is for me to get things finally done. It's a never-ending situation for a picky person like me! It's great for my clients but it can be a nightmare for me, in the nicest way, of course.

Here is a list of basics of what I need for my front door:

The experience to visit your home begins at the main door. Make sure you have a nice wreath as a basic. (Click on each image that will take you to the website these items are from.)

Invest in big pumpkins for your stairs instead of buying real ones. I know it's nice to have them but there are very nice ones to buy. In the long run, they cost more and you have to discard them soon. Also to have a nice look, you may want to have as many as you can, because if you are going to decorate do it right. Skimpy looks bad, I always say why bother if it's not going to look nice. It doesn't mean you should create a mall kind of ornamentation, keep it simple if that's your style but substantial.

Baskets full of sunflowers, blanket flowers, African daisies, garden mums, chrysanthemums, and croton. among others. (Below in this order).

As I mentioned above, you can click on each image to see where these suggestions are from. I selected different price points. The flowers, I leave it to your discretion. You can buy them anywhere. The variety is amazing. I suggested colors to play with.

This is just the main door decor, however, these basics can apply to most seasons. Replace the fillers and the big items. Voila!

Thanks for reading me!

Love your home!
